Coastal Energy Company (CEC) has awarded a decommissioning contract to a consortium between Unithai Shipyard and COOEC for Songkhla field in Block G5/43 in the Gulf of Thailand. The scope covers the deck and jacket of two bridge-connected wellhead platforms as well as the bridge at Songkhla C field on the concession. It is understood COOEC will undertake the offshore portion of the contract, while Unithai will carry out the dismantling of the structures that were removed and transported to the company's yard in Thailand. A date has yet to be fixed for the start of the operations, but it is expected to be carried out in the near future. Meanwhile, it is unclear at this stage which derrick barge COOEC will be deployed for this operation, although derrick barge Lan Jing is potentially available for the scope.
