BW Offshore has announced its plans to commence production at the Maromba field off Brazil in the first quarter of 2022.

The company is targeting final investment decision in 2020. BW says that it can possibly use its FPSO Berge Helene to develop the area. The floater is idle since late 2017. The first phase of development targets two or three subsea wells that could produce an average of 20,000 bpd. CAPEX is estimated at USD 250 million.

For the second phase of the field's development, the operator plans to add more wells and infrastructure. It is yet to decide whether to use a platform with dry wellheads or additional subsea wells. In addition, it plans to drill three to four producers and two water injector wells.

As previously reported, BW Offshore acquired the Maromba field earlier this year and is subject to ANP approval, which is expected to be granted by the third quarter.
