US energy regulators have granted Delfin LNG a one year extension until September 2021 to begin its proposed Delfin FLNG project in the US Gulf of Mexico.

The US. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission had previously authorized Delfin to build its project by September 2019.

The Delfin FLNG project involves four proposed newbuild FLNG vessels for a total of 13MMtpa of LNG export capacity. Delfin LNG has completed a pre-FEED study with Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) and Black & Veatch while a FEED study for the first FLNG newbuild is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2020.
