HHI has secured a USD578 million (KRW659.2 billion) contract from Beacon Offshore to build a semi for the Shenandoah field in the US Gulf of Mexico.

HHI expects to deliver the project by 28 September 2024. The Shenandoah semi is expected to be installed in the US Gulf of Mexico in late 2024. The semi of 91 m long, 91 m wide and 90 m high, will be able to produce 100,000 barrels per day of oil and 4 million cubic metres of gas per day.

No other details about the project have been disclosed but the contract size and lead time points towards a EPC contract for the hull and topsides.

The Shenandoah semi will sit about 247 km (154 mi) from shore in 1,750 m (5,740 ft) water depth.
