Lockheed Martin announced that it will be closing its Sikorsky manufacturing facility in Coatesville, Pennsylvania in early 2022. The facility was part of a 2019 negotiation with the Trump administration, local congressional leaders and Lockheed to keep the facility open. The facility is where completion work is done for the Sikorsky S-92 and S-76 helicopters as well as work on VH-92 also known as Marine One. The work will move to other Sikorsky facilities.

The move is unsurprising given the low number of civilian helicopter deliveries in the last several years. According to the General Aviation Manufacturers Association, Sikorsky made only two civilian deliveries in 2020 and sales remain low.
